‘Ineng’ slows down further; poses threat over Batanes-Cagayan area

QUEZON CITY, Aug. 21– Typhoon “Ineng” has slowed down further and maintained its strength as it continues to pose a threat over Batanes-Cagayan area, carrying maximum sustained winds of 170 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 205 kph.

As of 6 AM today 21 August 2015, Typhoon Ineng was located based on all available data at 170 km east of Calayan, Cagayan (19.2°N, 123.1°E).

PAGASA says enhanced Habagat will bring monsoon rains over Central Luzon and occasional rains over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 3 is still raised in Batanes Group of Islands, Northern Cagayan including Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands where storm surge of up to 2.0 meters is possible at coastal areas.

Meanwhile, the rest of Cagayan, Northern Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Abra, and Ilocos Norte is under PSW Signal No. 2 where storm surge is also possible in coastal areas.

PSW Signal No. 1 is declared over the rest of Isabela, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Benguet, La Union and Ilocos Sur.

Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas of the provinces under PSWS Nos. 3, 2, and 1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Fisher folk are advised not to venture out over the eastern and southern seaboards of Luzon and the seaboards of Samar provinces.
