(Eagle News)–Two winning senators opted not to do President Rodrigo Duterte’s signature fist bump pose during the  “class picture” of newly-proclaimed senators on Wednesday, May 22.

Grace Poe, who ran as an independent candidate, and Nancy Binay, who ran under the United Nationalist Alliance, merely smiled during the picture-taking which took place right after the proclamation of the 12 winning senators at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay.

Both Poe and Binay were unendorsed by Duterte.

Poe and Binay’s father Jejomar Binay, also ran against Duterte in the 2016 presidential polls but lost.

President Duterte also openly criticized Poe, who refused to grant him emergency powers for him to resolve the traffic situation on Edsa.

The rest of the winning senators, however, Cynthia  Villar, Bong Go, Pia Cayetano, Sonny Angara, Imee Marcos, Bato dela Rosa, Francis Tolentino, Lito Lapid, Koko Pimentel and Bong Revilla, readily made the pose.

No Otso Diretso bet has entered the winning circle in the May 13 polls.

With the election of the 12, only four Liberal Party senators are expected in the next Senate: Kiko Pangilinan, Franklin Drilon, Risa Hontiveros and Leila de Lima.

Villar, however, has said during the proclamation that the goal of the Senate has always been to be “independent and strong.”
