Housing units for victims of typhoon Pablo and Yolanda, will be free – Duterte

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday (February 8) during his speech at the National Housing Authority’s housing summit in Quezon City announced the granting of free housing for the victims of typhoons Pablo and Yolanda.

“Your housing [unit], after a few years, you have to pay P200,000, even the [victims of typhoons] Pablo and Yolanda. As long as I am the President, that’s for free. No more [payment needed],” the President said.

“Honestly, you will have to pay. That will be for free because no one would pay for that. Filipino? If the collector goes there, just say, ‘Get [the payment from] Duterte wherever he is.’ It will be for free, okay?” he added.

It is estimated that a total of 205,000 victims will benefits from the house and lot package cost almost Php 290,000 each.

The NHA said that the government is aiming to grant these homes by the end of the year.
