High-ranking maritime police official nabbed for alleged extortion

Entire Cavite Maritime section sacked

(Eagle News)–A high-ranking maritime police official in Cavite was arrested for allegedly extorting money from an association of fishermen in exchange for fishing rights in the area.

The Philippine National Police’s Counter – Intelligence Task Force, which runs after police scalawags, said Supt. Armandy Dimabuyo, commander of the 402nd Cavite Maritime Police Station, was arrested after he received the P18,000 from the fishermen as this month’s grease money in his office.

The amount was less than the P21,000 monthly Dimabuyo was extorting from the group  so its members would be allowed to fish in Tanza using their motorized bancas, which are prohibited.

Administrative and criminal charges are slated to be filed against Dimabuyo.

All Dimabuyo’s men at the Cavite Maritime Section were also sacked.
