(Eagle News)– Eight high-profile inmates who are set to testify against Senator Leila De Lima’s involvement in narcotics trade in New Bilibid Prison are now under custody of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II revealed on Friday (September 16) that the inmates, including convicted drug dealer Herbert Colangco, were already transferred at a facility secured by the Intelligence Service of the AFP (ISAFP) in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
Aguirre stressed that no bribes were asked in exchange for their testimonies.
“None whatsoever. Wala akong pera. They [inmates] believe in the war on drugs campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte and they trust me and my team,” said Aguirre.
The DOJ has readied a total of 12 convicted drug personalities who will be witnesses against De Lima in next week’s House probe.
Officials and agents of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) were also lined up to testify against De Lima.
De Lima is expected to turn her cold shoulder on the House probe, citing interparliamentary courtesy as her right.
She also denied all accusations against her.
