Guevarra: No decision as to who will replace Faeldon at BuCor yet

(Eagle News)–There is no decision yet as to who will replace Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon, who was sacked by President Rodrigo Duterte over the Good Conduct Time Allowance mess.

This is according to Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, who spoke to reporters on Thursday, Sept. 5.

According to Guevarra, pending President Duterte’s appointment, an officer-in-charge would be designated.

“Pansamantala, officer-in-charge or pwede namang ako na lang muna ang mag-designate nun,” Guevarra said.

President Duterte announced Faeldon’s dismissal in a speech on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The dismissal came following the release of convicts of heinous crimes under the GCTA law and the near-release of former Calauan, Laguna Mayor Antonio Sanchez, who was convicted of the rape and murder of Eileen Sarmenta and of the murder of Allan Gomez in the 1990s.
