Guevarra named officer-in-charge of national gov’t while Duterte is in Thailand

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has named Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra as officer in charge of the national government with the chief executive away to attend the 34th Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to Special Order 631, Guevarra will serve as OIC from June 21 to 23.

The order said all of the acts of Guevarra for and on behalf of Duterte “shall be deemed acts of the President unless disapproved or reprobated by the President.”

The President is slated to leave the country later this afternoon.
