Grenades found in Arnold Padilla’s house were “planted” — lawyer

(Eagle News) — The grenades which police found in the house of Arnold Padilla were “planted,” his lawyer said on Friday, Aug. 24.

“This is just an opinion, but for now, yun lang po yung masasabi naming abogado na hindi po si Arnold Padilla ang may-ari ng mga granadang ito,” Raymond Fortun said in an interview over radio dzbb.

As for the guns, he said the two that were found by the police in his client’s house in Barangay Magallanes, Makati were licensed.

The others, he said, were owned by Padilla’s bodyguards.

Padilla was arrested after a search in his house and apartment yielded weapons which police said were unlicensed.

Earlier, Padilla, his live-in partner and his bodyguards gained notoriety after they were caught physically and verbally abusing traffic enforcers who had just flagged them down for a violation on Aug. 13.

National Capital Region Police Office director Guillermo Eleazar said, however, that even before the video went viral, the police were already conducting a case build-up against Padilla.

He said this was after his license to hold firearms was revoked in April after the drug test results he submitted as a requirement were found to be falsified.
