Gov’t procures P1 billion worth of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers

(Eagle News) — The Department of Health has announced the procurement of P1 billion worth of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers who are in the frontlines in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019.

Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire said the agency was waiting for the 1 million sets of PPE for use of public hospitals and private hospitals, even outside Luzon.

Each PPE set includes goggles, head gear, an N95 mask, apron, a gown and gloves, she said.

Earlier,  Philippine Medical Association Vice President Dr. Benito Atienza said the Philippines had enough doctors to deal with the health crisis, but a lack of PPEs.

The Philippines has recorded over 1500 COVID-19 cases.
