Gordon hits China for presence of Chinese vessels near Pag-asa Island; “You are not a friend,” he says

(Eagle News)–You are not a friend.

Senator Richard Gordon had this to say to China, amid the presence of Chinese vessels near Pag-asa Island.

“Sabi ng China kaibigan natin sila, pero a friend does not send hundreds of army, hundreds of navy, does not send hundreds of vessels to harrass our fishermen in our territory,” Gordon said, expressing support for the diplomatic protest filed by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr.

Gordon as such reiterated the need for a strong Armed Forces.

“We do not have a strong Navy,  if we do not have a strong Army, we will be pushed around by other countries. Dapat malakas ang Armed Forces natin para igalang tayo ng China,” he said.

Locsin filed the protest against China on March 29.

President Rodrigo Duterte has also called the attention of China over the vessels in a previous speech.

“You are our friend but do not touch Pag-asa Island,” he said.
