Go reveals names of 3 police officials vying for PNP chief post

(Eagle News)–Senator Bong Go on Friday, Oct. 11, named the three police officials vying for the Philippine National Police chief post.

According to Go, shortlisted to the post to be vacated by PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde when he retires  were Police Lieutenant General Francisco Archie Gamboa, Police Lieutenant General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, and Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar.

Go made the announcement a day after the three police officials were transferred to other key posts.

Eleazar, who was the National Capital Region Police Office chief, is now the chief of the directorial staff, the fourth highest-ranking position in the PNP.

Replacing him as NCRPO chief is Brigadier  Gen. Debold Sinas from Region 7.

Gamboa, for his part, is now the deputy chief of the PNP for administration, while Cascolan is now the deputy chief PNP for operations.

Albayalde is set to retire in November.

Go’s announcement came days after retired brigadier general Rudy Lacadin alleged Albayalde called him and said “onti lang naman nakuha ko diyan” upon learning he was probing the 2013 Pampanga raid conducted by 13 policemen, and which the  Criminal Investigation and Detection Group found to be irregular.

Earlier, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Chief Aaron Aquino alleged Albayalde called him sometime in 2016 and asked him to  not implement the 2014 dismissal order issued against the 13 policemen over the raid.

Albayalde has admitted calling Aquino, but denied influencing him into doing anything.

He questioned the timing of Lacadin’s allegations, adding he was never charged.

President Rodrigo Duterte has said he would defer taking action on the allegations against Albayalde and the 13 policemen pending the results of a joint Senate panel probe into the matter.
