Gadon: Robredo’s mere indictment for sedition may be grounds for filing of impeachment complaint vs her

(Eagle News)–For lawyer Larry Gadon, Vice President Leni Robredo’s mere indictment for sedition may be a ground for the filing of an impeachment complaint against her.

In a statement, Gadon, counsel of Peter Joemel Advincula whose affidavit became the basis for the complaint filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group over the Ang Totoong Narcolist videos, said a conviction was not necessary for the filing since  impeachment is a proceeding “which is more of a political nature..”

“If betrayal of public trust is sufficiently shown , impeachment can proceed independently pending final judgement of the criminal case,” he said.

He quickly added, however, that so far, there were no plans for such a filing.

Apart from sedition, Robredo and several others face charges for libel, cyber libel, estafa, among others.
