(Eagle News) — A lawyer has filed a disbarment complaint against the man who filed an impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Wilfredo Garrido Jr. wants lawyer Larry Gadon disbarred over his allegedly perjurious statements and dishonesty in House hearings on the impeachment complaint against Sereno.

In his complaint filed on March 15, Garrido cited Gadon’s claim that his source on the allegation that Sereno falsified court documents in 2013 was reporter Jomar Canlas, for instance, a claim Canlas has denied.

He also cited Gadon’s claim that Sereno gave a Supreme Court official a directive to order three judges not to issue warrants of arrest against Senator Leila de Lima.

Two of the three judges have denied these allegations.

“Apart from lying, Atty. Gadon is also skilled in harassing and haranguing his own colleagues in public,” Garrido added.

For this, he said that on  Feb. 22, Gadon threatened to charge Sereno and some of her colleagues if she did not resign by March 1.

The House justice panel has found probable cause to impeach Sereno based on Gadon’s complaint.

A quo warranto petition seeking to have her appointment as Chief Justice nullified has also been filed before the Supreme Court.

Lawyers Algamar Latiph and Musa Malayang earlier filed a disbarment complaint against Gadon in April 2016 after he allegedly issued televised statements that were “hateful” to Muslims.

The lawyers revived the complaint in October 2017, after Gadon filed the impeachment complaint against Sereno.
