Filipino Muslims commemorate Eid’l Adha

(Eagle News)– Filipino Muslims on Monday (September 12) offered their morning prayers with their families to start Eid’l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice.

Hundreds of Muslims gathered at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila for the religious event.

Similar ceremonies were also conducted at the blue Mosque in Maharlika Village, Taguig City and Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.

Eid’l Adha signifies the end of the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Every Muslims exchange food and gifts. Muslims also slaughter sheep, goat, cows or camels to commemorate their Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience and willingness to sacrifice his son on Allah.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his support to the Muslim community and his regards on this festivity.

Last week, it was declared by Duterte that September 12 would be a regular holiday.
