(Eagle News) — Miss Philippines International bet Kylie Verzosa won this year’s Miss International pageant which was held on Thursday (October 27) in Tokyo, Japan.

Verzosa bested 60 other beauties from all around the world, to bag the 56th Miss International crown,

The 24-year-old Kylie who hails from Baguio City is a pre-school teacher and a professional model. She has a degree in business management from the Ateneo de Manila University.

Her final speech, where she stressed the importance of developing cultural sensitivity, was instrumental in the win.

“I believe that it is with developing in each of us sensitivity to other cultures, that we expand our horizons tolerate difference and appreciate diversity,” she said.

Miss Australia was declared first runner-up, followed by Miss Indonesia.

Miss Nicaragua and Miss USA completed the top five.

Verzosa is the Philippines’ sixth Miss International titleholder.

The other Filipina beauties who won the tilt are Bea Rose Santiago (2013), Lara Quigaman (2005), Melanie Marquez (1979), Aurora Pijuan (1970), and Gemma Cruz-Araneta (1964).

Since 2013 when actress Megan Young won the Miss Globe tilt, the country has won an international beauty pageant.

Last year, the country even had three international titles when Pia Wurtzbach won Miss Universe, Angelia Ong won Miss Earth, and Ann Lorraine Collis won Miss Globe.
