(Eagle News) —Passengers can now travel from Cavite to Metro Manila and vice versa via ferry starting Monday, December 9.

This is after the Department of Transportation through the Maritime Industry Authority launched the Cavite-Metro Manila Ferry Service on Sunday, Dec. 8, in a bid to ease congestion in Metro Manila through water transport.

Under the Okey Ka Ferry Ko program, passengers can now take that form of water transport from Cavite City Port Terminal to the Cultural Center of the Philippines Port and to Liwasang Bonifacio, and back.

The ferry service, Transportation Arthur Tugade  announced, will be free for a month, from Dec. 9 to Jan. 9, 2020.

Once prices are imposed, they will depend on the route, according to a list of prices uploaded by the DOTr on its Facebook account.

For the Cavite City to Liwasang Bonifacio (Lawton) route, the fare is P160 for each adult.

The fare of each student is pegged at P124, while that of senior citizens and persons with disabilities is at P118.

The fare of each child aged 4 to 11 is P80, while a child who is younger than 4 won’t have to be paid for.

For the Cavite City to CCP route, the fare of each adult is pegged at P200, that of one student at P160, and that of each senior citizen at P143.

The fare of each child aged 4 to 11 is pegged at P125.

The DOTr, which launched the project in the Cavite City Hall, said with the ferry, travel time from the province to Metro Manila, and vice versa, is now cut short from over two hours to an hour.
