(Eagle News)–Nicanor Faeldon surfaced at the Senate on Thursday, Sept. 5, a day after he was sacked by President Rodrigo Duterte as Bureau of Corrections director-general and after his lawyer told senators hearing the Good Conduct Time Allowance law that the former Marine had begged off from attending the same.

When asked by reporters, Jose Diño, Faeldon’s lawyer, said his client was  “insistent” on attending the hearing, where Senate President Tito Sotto’s “A1” intel report about  there being corruption in the Bureau of Corrections was expected to be discussed.

Diño said there was also a “mix-up” in the schedule.

He said although Senator Richard Gordon, blue ribbon panel chair, set today’s hearing at 10 a.m., Faeldon’s camp informed the Senate they were supposed to attend a BuCor budget hearing in the House on the same day.

“So from the House pupunta kami sa Senate..(Ang sabi) we will wait for you. So ang call time namin all along was 3 p.m.,” Diño said.
