(Eagle News)–Bureau of Corrections Chief Nicanor Faeldon on Monday, Sept. 2, denied he had signed the release order for former Calauan, Laguna Antonio Sanchez.

Sanchez was convicted of the rape and murder of Aileen Sarmenta, and of the murder of her friend Allan Gomez.

In the hearing on the Good Conduct Time Allowance before the Senate, Faeldon said he merely signed a memorandum that jumpstarts the process of the release.

The memorandum he signed he said would have to go through other offices before the superintendent of the jail facility issues and signs the release order.

In the case of Sanchez, he said he  has already stopped the process.

Senator Panfilo Lacson, however, did not buy Faeldon’s statement, noting that there was no difference between the document signed by Faeldon’s subordinate that allowed for the release of the convicts of the Chiong sisters, and the document he signed.

But I will no longer debate you on that because you already admitted it was you who signed the document, Lacson said.
