(Eagle News)–Erwin Tulfo on Monday, June 3, apologized anew for his televised tirades against Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista, a former Army chief, after he failed to grant the broadcast journalist a live interview.
“Ang sasabihin ko lang po is ako at ang buong pamilyang Tulfo ay nagpapakumbabang humihingi ng kapatawaran kay retired general at Sec. Rolando Bautista sa pagmumura at pangbabastos ko sa kanya noong nakaraang linggo on air,” Tulfo said in an interview over CNN Philippines.
According to Tulfo, he thinks he has to “tone down and change my style.”
He said he believes what he did was, aftee all, “very excessive, the ranting.”
“You could call out somebody without ranting, cursing on air,” Tulfo said.
In a related development , Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde admitted Tulfo’s attitude towards Bautista was one of the reasons his and his family’s security escorts were recalled.
All in all, eight police escorts who were assigned to the Tulfos were recalled: two each from Erwin, Ben, Raffy and his wife, incoming ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Jocelyn Tulfo.
Albayalde clarified, however, that the decision was due primarily to a periodic review done by the PNP Police Security Protection Group of civilians who were given police security escorts.
PNP PSPG chief Brigadier General Filmore Escobal said the recall was pending a two-week review of the so-called security threats to the lives of these individuals.
Bautista had begged off from the live interview as he was in a meeting with an ambassador when the request was made.Mar Gabriel
