Efren “Bata” Reyes gets bronze in SEA Games carom

(Eagle News) — Four-time eight-ball world champion Efren “Bata” Reyes settled for a bronze medal in the men’s 1-cushion carom event at the 30th Southeast Asian Games, after being defeated by his Vietnamese opponent who advanced to the finals instead.

Reyes bowed down to Dinh Nai Ngo, with a score of  100-14.

On Wednesday, Reyes destroyed his Thai opponent, Punyawee Thongchai, 100-37.

In previous interviews, Reyes had said he would do his best to get the gold, but said his skill was no longer the same as before.

He also commended Vietnam, who he said was a very good player.
