(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday, May 5, visited the wake of former Speaker Prospero Nograles in Taguig.
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles confirmed this to the media.
Nograles passed away on Saturday, at the age of 71.
PBA partylist Jericho Nograles said their father died of “respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia.”
Nograles, who served as Speaker from 2008 to 2010, and Duterte were political rivals.
He ran two times against Duterte for the post of mayor in Davao but lost.
He also ran against Duterte’s daughter Sara for the same post but he again lost.
Duterte has appointed Nograles’ son Karlo as his Cabinet secretary.
