Duterte urges ASEAN to “redouble” efforts to counter terrorism

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, June 22, called on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to “redouble our collective efforts to counter” terrorism “effectively and with finality.”

Duterte said at the plenary session of the 34th ASEAN summit that terrorism, violent extremism and transnational crimes “continue to threaten our security.”

Duterte also expressed support for the establishment of an ASEAN Technical and Vocational Education and Training Development Council.

He urged the  audience to “invest in our great resource–our people,” noting that  “we all aspire for inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development.”

Duterte is in Thailand for the 34th ASEAN Summit.
