QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — President-elect Rodrigo Duterte said he will be selling the presidential yacht BRP Ang Pangulo. The proceeds from the sale will fund veterans, improvement of hospital facilities, and doctors’ salaries so they won’t need to go abroad for higher paying jobs.
Former President Cory Aquino first tried to sell the said presidential yacht but was not sold.
According to the official website of the Office of the President, BRP Ang Pangulo was obtained during the administration of Carlos P. Garcia as part of the war preparations given to the Philippines by Japan.
President Aquino rechristened the presidential yacht with its old name, the BRP Ang Pangulo, augmenting the capabilities of the Philippine Navy.
