(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, Sept. 4, ordered convicts released under the Good Conduct Time Allowance law to surrender within 15 days.
The President said if they do not do this and register with the Bureau of Corrections within that span of time, they would be treated as fugitives.
“I will give you 15 days, liberty. Provided you make yourself available anytime that you will be called for investigation, to have a recomputation,” Duterte said.
The President issued the order after demanding Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon’s resignation following the release of three convicts in the Chiong sisters’ rape-slay, and the near-release of former Calauan, Laguna Antonio Sanchez, who was convicted of the killing and rape of Eileen Sarmenta and of the murder of her friend Allan Gomez in the 1990s.
