(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, Nov. 28, ordered the government to step up its campaign against illegal recruitment.
The President gave the order specifically to the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Labor and Employment during the awarding of child-friendly local government units in the Palace.
“My orders are really to get them,” the President said, as he pointed out the abuses suffered by some Overseas Filipino Workers.
President Duterte has been actively supporting the creation of a Department of OFWs to address the concerns of Filipinos working abroad.
On Tuesday, a joint House panel approved the creation of the Department of Filipinos Overseas and Foreign Employment.
In the Senate, Senator Bong Go, Duterte’s former longtime aide, has said he would push for such a measure.
