Duterte to attend pro-BOL assembly in Cotabato as plebiscite nears

(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte will attend on Friday, Jan. 18, an assembly aimed at urging support for the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the announcement in a press  conference on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

“Well, certainly the voice of the President is always a powerful influence on whatever matter he gives his voice into,” Panelo said.

More than 2 million voters are slated to participate in the plebiscite for the ratification of the BOL slated on Jan.21 for voters within the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Isabela in Basilan and Cotabato, and on Feb. 6 for voters  in Lanao del Norte except Iligan  and six North Cotabato municipalities.

President Duterte has been an advocate of the BOL, saying it was the only way  peace  could be attained in Mindanao.
