Duterte: There is less fighting in Mindanao due to BOL but NPA still a problem

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, Sept. 6, said there is less fighting in Mindanao after the Bangsamoro Organic Law was passed.

The President said the New People’s Army, however, remains a problem.

Duterte has declared the group a terrorist group, noting what he said were the atrocities it committed, including the killing of a child.

Because of the security situation in Mindanao, Duterte said “I do not recommend any new economic activity or investment on the western side, especially in the islands there.”

“You have to consider the law and order of Mindanao…I do not think that it would be prudent for you to consider it,” he said.

The BOL that was passed in July last year  created a more autonomous Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao that replaced the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
