(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte said he would fire two ranking government official upon his return from his two-day state visit in Singapore.

Speaking to the Filipino community in Singapore on Friday night (December 16) before his flight back to Philippines, the President assured the overseas Filipino workers there that he would stop corruption in government while he is the President of the land.

“I will assure you, I will assure you, corruption will stop,” he said during the second and last day of his state visit.

And then he announced that he will fire two ranking government officials when he returns to the Philippines.

Ako may i-fire-out akong dalawa. Pag-uwi ko ngayon, may paalisin ako, mataas na opisyal. Malalaman din ninyo,” he said.

“Sinabi ko na sa iyo, lahat hinigpitan ko,” he said.

“Do not do it, even a whisper,” he said warning those in government not to engage in any corrupt activity.

The President said that if he would hear of any allegations of corruption against a government official, he would act on it and have him or her investigated.

But for him, he said it would be better to just fire him, especially if he already doubts his credibility.

“The better practice is if I am in doubt, you go,” he said.

Huwag na akong mag-ano-ano na baka hindi totoo,” the President said.

He also asked the Filipino workers to “assert their rights” when they go back to the Philippines, and not to allow corrupt officials to get away with their activities.

Huwag kayong magpaloko sa mga corrupt (Don’t let yourselves be fooled by the corrupt (men),” he said.

“When you are in the right, stand your ground…Be assertive of your rights,” he added as the Filipino audience cheered him on.
