(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, April 11, spoke anew behind a bullet-proof glass, which he said had been installed  to thwart any attempt to shoot him from a distance.

“Kaya nilagyan ng presidential (security) guard..,” he said speaking behind the glass in a campaign sortie in Bacolod.

Duterte first spoke before a bullet-proof glass in another campaign sortie in Malabon on April 2.

In explaining the use of the bullet-proof glass there, Duterte had said someone wanted him dead.

PSG Brigadier General Jose Eriel Nimbra, for his part, said there was a need to “balance security and accessibility” especially considering the venue of the sortie was an “open area.”

“With or without outstanding threat, it is but imperative for PSG to implement the highest security protocols,” he said.
