Duterte slams US for meddling in PHL’s internal issues

(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday reiterated that the United States (US) should not get involved in our country’s internal affairs, especially the issues regarding his war on drugs and crime.

“If other leader would try to lecture me about the internal affairs of this country, don’t do that. Magka babuyan tayo. Philippines might be a small country, but we are independent,” Duterte said in a press briefing before leaving for Laos for the ASEAN Summit.

Duterte also blasted columnists who were acting like “lapdogs” of Obama and the US.

“Columnists in this country treat USA and Obama as if we are their lapdogs. I do not answer to anybody except to the Filipino people. Philippines is a sovereign nation.” he stressed.

Earlier, Duterte said that Obama should listen to him and understand the illegal drug situation in the country first before discussing human rights issues.
