Duterte slams Communist rebels anew

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, Dec. 18, slammed Communist rebels anew, noting what he said were their atrocities.

“They are just plain bandits and that is the way we should treat them,” Duterte said.

According to the President, because the rebels were “criminals,” a warrant was not needed to arrest them.

He said they were “24-hour violators” of the Revised Penal Code after all.

“Darating ang panahon na hindi na ako tatanggap ng surrenderees,” Duterte said.

The President ended peace talks last year.

Only recently though, Bong Go, his former aide who remains close to him, said the chief executive was still keen on pursuing talks with the rebels.

Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Maria Sison welcomed Go’s statement, and urged him to inform Duterte to prepare for informal negotiations.
