Duterte signs into law measure providing for cheaper political ads

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law a measure providing for bigger discount rates for political advertisements during the elections.

Under the new law, which amends the Fair Election Act, candidates and parties can get discounts 30 percent to 50 percent for television, from 20 percent to 40 percent for radio and 10 percent for print.

The campaign period or national and party-list candidates kicked off on Tuesday, Feb.  12.

It will end on May 11.
