(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has signed an executive order allowing for the funding of the fourth tranche of the salary hike of government workers.
Under EO No. 76, Duterte said the tranche should be charged against “any available appropriations” under the 2018 national budget pending the passage of the 2019 national budget.
The passage of this year’s national budget has been stalled due to the budget impasse between the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The Senate has accused the House of manipulating the already-ratified budget bill by Congress, with Senate President Tito Sotto refusing to sign the same for transmittal to Duterte.
The House said however these were mere itemizations that would allow for an easier scrutiny of the bill.
