Duterte sets aside P2 billion for free medicines to poor Filipinos this December

(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte is setting aside P2 billion to be given to poor Filipinos in need of medicines.

Duterte said the amount was part of the P5 billion check granted to him by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) which he is giving to the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The President said he is directing the DOH and the DSWD to allot P2 billion for poor Filipinos needing medicine.

“I want every Filipino holding a reseta of a doctor who could not find the money to buy the medicines, sabi ko, ‘Ibigay ninyo ‘yang two billion na ‘yan’,” Duterte said.  He said this should be given this December.

“So kayong Pilipinas, nakikinig sa akin ngayon. May mga reseta kayo, go to the DSWD  or hanapin mo ang inyong city health or the hospital itself and we will buy the medicines for you,” Duterte added.
