(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte does not see the need to order an investigation into reports of malfunctioning vote-counting machines.

In an interview with reporters after casting his vote in his polling center in Davao on Monday, May 13, Duterte said the Commission on Elections should instead “explain first to the people.”

He said this was in recognition of the independence of the Comelec.

There were reports of VCMs not working properly in Metro Manila.

Senator Grace Poe had to return to her polling precinct in San Juan later in the day after the machine rejected her ballot.

Several VCMs were also reported malfunctioning in three polling centers in Manila.
