Duterte says he might appoint military man at helm of DA

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, July 17, said he might appoint a military man at the helm of the Department of Agriculture.

President Duterte made the remark in a television interview, after Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol tendered his courtesy resignation.

Duterte has said he would appoint Piñol as head of the Mindanao Development Authority.

“Maybe again a military man kasi madali mag-utos ng trabaho and they do it without question,” Duterte said.

The President, however, did not give names.

In his resignation letter, Piñol had recommended at least three DA  undersecretaries to replace him at the helm of the agency: Ariel Cayanan, Waldo Carpio, and Francisco Villano.

Carpio is the brother of Manases Carpio, the husband of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, presidential daughter.
