Duterte orders “fair, thorough” probe of Richard Santillan’s killing

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered a “fair and thorough” probe of the killing of the security aide of former Biliran Rep. Glenn Chiong last month.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the announcement of the probe into Richard Santillan’s death in a statement on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Authorities had said Santillan, who was being linked to illegal drugs and car robbery, was killed in a legitimate police operation in December.

But according to Panelo, “serious accusations have been made against some members of the CALABARZON police.”

“Let the chips fall as they may. As we know by now, PRRD does not condone erring men in uniform who grossly violate the law,” Panelo said.
