Duterte orders arrest of owners of QC dialysis center accused of claiming PhilHealth benefits of deceased patients

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the arrest of the owners of a dialysis center in Quezon City that was accused of claiming PhilHealth  benefits for deceased patients.

Duterte gave the order in a television interview early Saturday, June 8, days after the Wellmed Dialysis and Laboratory Center Corp. in Novaliches denied the accusations through the  law firm that represents it.

“The NBI should take over by tomorrow and start to summon everybody and the owners of that Wellness thing there, where these fraudulent claims were discovered, arrest them. That is my order,” Duterte said.

Duterte said he may also be reshuffling people at PhilHealth, where he said “business people” are needed.

Duterte was quick to add, however, that “at this time I do not have the evidence or proof so that I am not in a position to say that there are government men involved.”

“Pero ‘yung mga ospital na nagchaharge na maski wala na ‘yung pasyente nagda-dialysis pa rin, ‘yun sila ang nagpafile ng fraudulent claim so sila ayung unahin ko,” he added.

PhilHealth president Roy Ferrer said 28 cases have been filed against WellMed after two of its former employees accused it of processing claims of deceased dialysis patients.
