Duterte names new envoys to African, European countries

(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed new envoys to several countries.

Duterte appointed former Foreign Affairs spokesperson Raul Hernandez as ambassador to Turkey, appointment papers showed.

Hernandez shall have concurrent jurisdiction over Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Edward Fereira was also appointed as special envoy to Kazakhstan for a six-month term, Leah Ruiz as ambassador to Poland, and Alex Chua as ambassador to Kenya.

Ruiz shall have concurrent jurisdiction over Ukraine, Latvia and Lithuania, the appointment papers showed.

Chua, who was also named the permanent representative of the Philippines to the United Nations Environmental Programme and UN Human Settlements Programme, on the other hand, shall have concurrent jurisdiction over Burundi, Comoros, Congo, Malawi, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and South Sudan.
