Duterte meets with local executives; discusses country’s illegal drugs problem

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte met with mayors and governors across the country on Tuesday night to discuss the issue of illegal drugs.

The meeting took place at the Manila Hotel, a day after President Duterte railed about the same in his State of the Nation Address.

Apart from illegal drugs, Duterte said in his fourth SONA that corruption continued to pervade in the country.

Duterte has met with local chief executives in the past, and would even name some high-ranking local officials who he said were engaged in the illegal drug trade in public.

In discussing the drugs problem in his SONA, Duterte noted how illegal drugs funded the Marawi Siege that led to the deaths of some of his soldiers and policemen.
