(Eagle News) — The administration of President Rodrigo Duterte got a “very good” +66 net satisfaction rating in the latest survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) where even his illegal drugs campaign — much criticized by human rights groups and political opponents — got an “excellent” satisfaction rating of 78 percent.

The results of the survey which were first published in Business World, the SWS’ media partner, showed that the over-all performance of the Duterte administration was at +66 percent, considered as “very good.”

The survey, conducted in September, focused on 17 specific issues, where the government got the rating of “very good” in eight of the key areas, “good” in eight other areas of concern, and “excellent” in one area – the campaign against illegal drugs.

These were the specific issues where the government got a rating of “very good” – or between +50 and +69 score:
• Helping the poor (+63)
• Promoting the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (+62)
• Fighting crime (+58)
• Eradicating graft and corruption (+57)
• Fighting terrorism (+55)
• Defending the country’s territorial rights (+55)
• Distributing land to deserving tillers under land reform (+53)

Meanwhile, the Duterte administration got a “good” mark — meaning between +30 to +49 rating — in the following areas:
• Developing science and technology (+49)
• Providing jobs (+46)
• Reconciliation with Muslim rebels (+42)
• Foreign relations (+39)
• Ensuring an efficient transportation system (+39)
• Reconciliation with communist rebels (+39)
• Ensuring that no family will ever be hungry (+37)
• Fighting inflation (+33)

The survey had a margin of error of ±3 percent.

In a statement, Malacañang thanked the public for its high satisfaction rating, saying this would inspire and encourage the President and his team in their work.

Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar described the survey results as a “a source of inspiration and strength to the President and his entire team to double their time and energy to rid society of drugs, criminality, and corruption while bringing the fruits of sustainable inclusive development down to our grassroots.”

The survey results were released as government statistics showed the Philippine economy growing by 7.1 percent in the first three months of the Duterte administration.
