Duterte gives assurance two Cabinet officials linked to corruption to be given due process

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has given the assurance the two Cabinet members who were linked to corruption would be given due process.

“If you are corrupt, kasi ipapatawag kita dito sa opisina and we will have a one-on-one talk. Kasi kung meron, I’ll fire you. Sigurado ‘yan,” Duterte said, without giving names.

He said he has already seen the briefer on the two officials, but said he has yet to see the result on an investigation into the allegations.

Earlier, the Palace said Duterte would hold a separate probe into the government officials.

This was after the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission submitted its report on its own probe.

The PACC had said the corruption allegations were proven true based on its investigation.

The President has been known to fire government officials linked to corruption.

Among those he fired were then-Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno and then-Budget Undersecretary Gertrudo de Leon.
