(Eagle News) — Lt. Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr., who recently retired as chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, will assume his new post as the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process next week.
This is according to President Rodrigo Duterte, who presided over the change of command ceremony in the military, now led by Lt. Gen. Benjamin Madrigal.
Galvez will replace Jesus Dureza, who resigned from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process after two of his subordinates were accused of corruption.
According to Duterte, the former AFP chief will be the ninth military man to join his Cabinet.
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon were also part of the military before they were appointed by Duterte to their present posts.
