Duterte dissolves gov’t panel leading peace talks with Communist rebels

(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte has dissolved the government panel that leads peace talks with the Communist rebels.

President Duterte ended the appointments of panel chair Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III and of members Hernani Branganza, Rene Sarmiento, Antonio Arellano, and Angela Librado-Trinidad through letters signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea dated March 18.

The letters said this was following the termination of peace talks in November 2017.

Duterte ended peace talks with the Communist rebels, following what he said were their atrocities that included the killing of a baby.
