Duterte appoints ISAFP chief as commanding general of military

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed the head of the Army’s intelligence unit as the military’s next commanding general.

Major General Macairog Alberto, chief of the Intelligence Service unit of the Armed Forces of the Philippines will replace Major General Rolando Bautista, who is slated to retire on Oct. 15.

President Duterte has said, however, that he would appoint Bautista as the next Social Welfare secretary.

Alberto served as commander of Task Force Davao and of the Army’s 1001st Infantry Brigade based in Compostela Valley.
