Duterte announces P1-million reward for each arrest of convict of heinous crime released under GCTA law

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, Sept. 17, announced a P1 million reward for the arrest of each convict of heinous crime released under the Good Conduct Time Allowance law.

The President made the announcement with two days left before his ultimatum for convicts released under the law that reduces the sentence of inmates for good conduct to surrender.

“The P1-million prize is available to all those who can capture them dead or alive but maybe dead would be a better option,” the President said.

Earlier, the Bureau of Corrections said 1914 convicts of heinous crimes had been released under the GCTA law.

The Department of Justice said over 600 convicts have so far surrendered.

The President had given the convicts 15 days to surrender or be treated as fugitives.
