Duque: John Basa to assume OIC post at PhilHealth

(Eagle News)–PhilHealth’s executive vice president and chief operating officer has been designated officer in charge of the government-owned and -controlled corporation.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said in an interview over GMA7’s Unang Balita that John Basa was, however, still in the United States and will be back on Monday.

Duque said Dennis Mas, PhilHealth senior vice president, was designated OIC in the meantime.

Earlier, President Duterte asked PhilHealth officials to submit their courtesy resignations following reports a PhilHealth-accredited medical facility processed PhilHealth claims of deceased patients.

Charges have been filed against Bryan Sy, a co-owner of WellMed Dialysis Center, and against several others, including the two who exposed the scam, over the  ghost dialysis.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Duterte was eyeing a certain Dr. Jaime Cruz as the new PhilHealth president.
