Drug-crazed man holds uncle hostage in QC; is subdued by police

(Eagle News) — A drug-crazed 27-year-old man held hostage his uncle in Quezon City early Friday, but the police quickly subdued him during negotiations.

The Quezon City Police District said charges of alarm and scandal are set to be filed against Juren Capala Amego, after he held Jerry Pisngot, 55, at knifepoint on Dangay St., Veterans Village, Project 7.

The incident was reported to the police around 5 a.m.

According to the QCPD, Amego, who admitted to taking illegal drugs prior to the incident, was subdued by responding members of the Special Reaction Unit and Station 2 personnel while Supt. Igmedio Bernaldez, the station commander, was negotiating with him.

Pisngot was immediately rushed to the Quezon City General Hospital after he sustained minor stab wounds.

Seized from Amego were a fan knife measuring approximately six inches, and a “personalized knife” approximately 12 inches long, the QCPD said.

Amego is now detained at the police headquarters.
