Drilon: Current minority bloc members have “no complaints” about Sotto as Senate President

(Eagle News)–Current members of the minority bloc in the Senate have “no complaints” about Senator Tito Sotto as leader of the Upper Chamber.

Senate minority leader Franklin Drilon said in an interview over radio dzbb on Sunday, June 2, that he and his fellow minority members, however, will not sign the resolution of Senator Panfilo Lacson that aims to determine how many senators indeed back Sotto’s leadership.

Lacson drafted the resolution after Senators-elect Imee Marcos and Francis Tolentino said there was a push for Senator Cynthia Villar to become the leader of the next Senate, with the incoming senators expected to take their seats in July.

“Yung minority po hindi kasali sa paghalal sa pangulo ng senado, so hindi po kami pipirma kasi makakasama kami sa majority,” Drilon said.

According to Drilon, “maayos naman po ang liderato ni Sen. Sotto sa senado.”

He said Sotto “treats everyone fairly” and “listens to everyone.”

“Hindi ko alam kung ano yung resolution na papapirmahan nila pero ang sinasabi ko ay ang minorya ay walang reklamo kay SP Sotto,” he said.
