DOTr: LTFRB director in Bicol region sacked upon orders from President Duterte

(Eagle News) — The Department of Transportation on Monday, April 30, defended the dismissal of one of its regional directors for alleged corruption.

In a statement, the DOTr said the removal of Jun Abrazaldo from the Bicol regional director post, was upon the order of President Rodrigo Duterte himself, who appointed him.

The statement was issued after Abrazaldo filed a complaint against Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Chair Martin Delgra III for alleged abuse of authority when he sacked him.

Abrazaldo also accused Delgra of protecting erring bus companies.

“According to(Delgra), Abrazaldo’s case was never based on unadulterated imagination as it is rooted in three reports presented by the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) …” the DOTr said.

The agency said these were apart from the complaint it received about Abrazaldo threatening to make a truck owner pay P3 million to settle an incident that took place in Region 4a, which is not “even” within his jurisdiction.

“Walang personalan, trabaho lang. Naghuhumiyaw na ang mga reklamo hindi pa ba natin aaksyunan? Kawawa naman ang taumbayan,” Delgra said.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said Abrazalde’s sacking was proof they were not letting anything go unanswered in the agency.

“Mapa-opisyal o ordinaryong empleyado basta’t hindi tama ang ginagawa, hindi ako magdadalawang isip na sibakin kayo. Utos iyan mismo ni Pangulong Duterte,” Tugade said.
